Description
An improved light weight version of the shoring cap widely used throughout NATO. The SRC-4X4SC shoring caps where specifically designed to fit snuggly over 4 inch x 4 inch fire-retardant treated wooden shoring material, NSN 5510-00-663-4693. The shoring caps eliminate the lengthy time needed to calculate and layout the various angles on wooden shoring commonly used in K-Type shoring scenarios. Critical time is saved by eliminating several cuts needed with the traditional layout of K-Type shoring. Correctly cutting the complex angles on shoring is critical to proper alignment of the shoring and even distribution of the weight load to reinforce the shipboard structures and from preventing further damage. Eliminating several complex angled cuts also reduces the risk of injury to hands while using the aggressive shark tooth saw to cut the wooden shoring. Simply determine the required length of the shore, make a single 90° angle cut, slip the shoring cap over the shore and place in the desired shoring position. Utilize wooden wedges in pairs to tighten up the shores with shoring caps as is in any shoring evolution. The caps are designed with holes to allow securing of the shoring caps on the wooden shoring with the nails provided from the shoring kit. The shoring cap is a self-contained unit, which does not require the use of tools and is the smarter choice when erecting temporary structural support.
